Creating a band
LMFAO is an American hip-hop duo that was formed in Los Angeles in 2006. The band consisted of Skyler Gordy (aka Sky Blu) and his uncle Stefan Kendal (aka Redfoo). Stefan and Skyler were born in the affluent Pacific Palisades neighborhood. Redfoo is one of the eight children of Motown Records founder Berry Gordy. In an interview with Shave magazine, the performers said that they were originally called Sexy Dudes. They changed the name on the recommendation of their grandmother. The new name LMFAO is an initialism for Laughing My Fucking Ass Off.
The way to fame
As soon as the duo recorded a few demos, Stefan Kendal’s best friend presented them to Interscope Records head Jimmy Iovine. In 2007, the band appeared at the Winter Music Conference in Miami. The atmosphere of the South Beach district became a source of inspiration for their further creative style.
The musicians began writing original dance songs in their studio apartment and played them in local clubs. The group was known for its mixed style, which included elements of hip-hop, dance and everyday lyrics. Their songs often tell about parties and alcohol.

In 2011, the band released a music video for the song Party Rock Anthem, which was viewed by more than 1 billion users. The second single Sorry for Party Rocking became an international hit and took first place in the rating of music venues in many countries. Breakup of the band
In December 2012, the band members informed fans that the duo was disbanding. As Sky Blu said: ‘This is only a temporary break in our work together’. Sometimes, the temporary can become eternal.
